Job Summary

Fantastic opportunity for a Transport and Logistics Operations Manager to join this global fuel distribution business.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting into the Regional Operations Manager, the role holder will be responsible for driving optimal performance from a logistics fleet and workforce. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Driver welfare - managing a logistics workforce and overseeing absence sickness and holiday
  • Driver Infringements - Monitor and record driver infringements, reduce infringements, monitor and comply with Working Time Directive requirements.
  • HSSE - record all incidents and implement and promote a HSSE focused culture.
  • Oversee depot performance - make sure that depots are performing at the highest sustainable levels.
  • Depot Audits - oversee audits and ensure depots are operating to the correct HSSE standards.
  • Site safety meetings - Carry out monthly site safety meeting and hold regular
  • Tool box talks - Interact with the Planning team - making sure that there is sufficient resource available for commercial demands at all times.
  • Drive a culture of collaboration between commercial sales teams and the operations teams.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Work experience and in depth knowledge of logistics and operations within a fast moving transport and logistics environment as an Operations or Transport Manager or similar role is essential.
  • Experience of leading a multisite transport operation in the fuel distribution industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience of managing a depot network and logistics fleet is essential.
  • Experience of managing a driver workforce is essential.
  • Experience of managing a driver workforce is essential.
  • In-depth understanding of HSSE legislation and process in logistics is essential
  • CPC qualification is desirable.
  • Strong organisation and planning skills are essential.
  • Problem solving skills are essential and the ability to make decisions and prioritise in a pressurised environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Strong people management skills and leadership skills are essential.
  • Results driven approach and mindset is essential
